A non-governmental organization active in research and training, specializing in gender equality and development. Founded in 1998 and officially registered as an NGO in 2000, the organization brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts—teachers, psychologists, lawyers, journalists—dedicated to promoting women’s rights and social equity in the Republic of Moldova.

Gender-Centru promotes gender equality as a fundamental principle of democracy, contributing to the development of an inclusive society free from discrimination and violence. Through research, education, and advocacy, we support equitable public policies and provide support to vulnerable communities.
Over the years, Gender-Centru has carried out over 40 programs and projects, addressing essential topics such as:
- Gender education in schools and universities
- Prevention of gender-based violence and human trafficking
- Supporting sexual and reproductive rights
- Increasing women's participation in decision-making
- Integrating gender perspectives into national and international policies

and Collaborations
National and international partnerships: We are active members of global networks such as the Women’s Major Group and the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders. We collaborate with government institutions and local NGOs to implement effective gender equality policies.
Humanitarian projects: Following the invasion of Ukraine, Gender-Centru provided essential support to over 10,000 refugees and their host communities. The mobile team, consisting of lawyers, psychologists, and social workers, traveled over 30,000 km to provide assistance to refugees in several districts of Moldova.
Advocacy and research: We contributed to the development of fundamental legislative documents such as the Gender Equality Law, the Domestic Violence Law, and the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security.
